  • BOTTOM LINE

With subtle improvements to the all-new 2017 Elantra Limited, Hyundai has met its objective of making the compact sedan a choice and not a compromise.

BY PC MAG ME TEAM
When the previous-generation Hyundai Elantra was introduced in 2011, it went from mediocre in styling to one of the best-looking small mainstream sedans available. It would be difficult for Hyundai to pull that off again, and frankly the outgoing Elantra still looked fresh five years later so it didn't need to. Instead, Hyundai has wisely chosen to refine the all-new 2017 Sonata with small tweaks to the sheet metal and add available driver-assist features, an improved in-dash display, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The 2017 Elantra also gets a new 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine with a slight rise in horsepower. And Hyundai has updated the suspension to the ride and handling. That all adds up to a very solid new car.
How Much?
The 2017 Hyundai Elantra comes in two trim levels. The base SE starts at $17,150, while the Limited that we tested starts at $23,250. Our test car also came with $4,525 in options and an $835 freight and handling charge, so the final sticker came to $27,710.
